Marisa MacClary
Co-Founder/CEO

Marisa has over 20 years of experience as a healthcare IT entrepreneur, consultant and business development leader.

In 2001, Marisa founded Health Tech Associates and worked for numerous organizations focused on building clinical technology platforms and HIE solutions. Before joining Artifact Health, she served as Vice President of Business Development for Salar, Inc.

Marisa conceived and designed a web-based reimbursement software system for Johns Hopkins Hospital, which was deployed in 2004, to facilitate the retrospective query process.

Prior to Health Tech Associates, Marisa helped launch one of the first online businesses focused on developing web applications for the pediatric and childcare industries.

Marisa is a graduate of Wesleyan University, earning a BA in Biology and the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College, where she received an MBA.

Meir Gottlieb
Co-Founder/CTO

Meir is a healthcare IT entrepreneur with over 18 years of experience in enterprise healthcare software design, development, and integration.

In 1999, Meir co-founded Salar, Inc., a provider of physician documentation and charge capture solutions to some of the nation’s top hospitals. Salar was acquired in 2011 by Transcend Services, a NASDAQ company.

Throughout his career, Meir has worked closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals. He understands the environment they work in and the unique pressures they face. He is committed to building reliable, easy to use software that saves them time and allows them to focus on patient care.

Meir is a graduate of Cornell University College of Engineering with a BS in Computer Science.

Jacob Lieman
Director, Engineering

Jake is an expert software developer, particularly as applied to provider facing healthcare applications.

Before joining Artifact Health, Jake held the position of Vice President of Product Development at Salar, Inc. where he managed the engineering team and was responsible for Salar’s product development and engineering support.

Jake is experienced and talented in creating software for providers and brings with him a strong understanding of the healthcare industry and physician query process.

Jake is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park with a BS in Math and Computer Science.

Bern Werner
Director, Customer Accounts

Bern has over 20 years of experience successfully building businesses, and planning and executing healthcare software projects. He has a proven record of fostering teamwork and bringing diverse resources together to achieve goals and establish long term relationships with customers.

In 1998, Bern co-founded Innovative Resource Group, Inc. (IRG), an information management business that grew to more than 150 employees in three years and was acquired in 2003 by iGate Capital, a NASDAQ company. In 2006, Bern joined Salar, Inc. where he served for eight years as Vice President of Implementation. Bern then spent three years at HealthLoop, Inc., where he implemented patient engagement solutions and built partnerships with enterprise accounts.

Bern is a 1988 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and served six years in the US Armed Forces. As a Marine Corp Officer, Bern provided oversight and instruction to the Air Defense Command, Control and Communications Systems program.

Joey Chapline
Software Engineer

Joey is a skilled software engineer with extensive experience building scalable, performance-sensitive backend web applications for large enterprises.

Before becoming a member of the Artifact Health team, Joey was a software engineer at PayPal. During his time there, he worked on PayPal’s credit platform which handled millions of requests per day. Before PayPal, Joey worked as an application developer at UPS.

Joey is a passionate about designing efficient, scalable, and maintainable software systems.

Joey is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park with a BS in Computer Engineering and a minor in Project Management.

Jon Giroux
Software Engineer

Jon is a software engineer who has spent his career working on customer facing business critical enterprise systems for large organizations using a variety of technologies.

Before joining Artifact Health, Jon was a software engineer at United Parcel Service (UPS), as a member of the web applications team responsible for the overhaul and redesign of the UPS.com shipping application.

Jon is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University, earning a BS in Computer Science with a minor in economics, and Towson University where he received a MS in Computer Science with a specialization in software engineering.

Estela Valladares
Administrative Support Assistant

Estela has a varied background in hospitality, retail and graphic design. With her diverse experience, she provides support to multiple teams and functional areas across the company, including customer success, marketing and administrative.

Prior to working at Artifact Health, Estela was an Operations Manager for Le Visage Spa in Boston. During her time there, she oversaw all aspects of the operation including hiring and managing staff, overseeing facility maintenance, developing budgets and creating marketing and promotional campaigns.

Estela’s proactive and flexible demeanor makes her a perfect fit for the fast-paced, constantly evolving environment at Artifact Health.

Estela graduated from the New England Institute of Art with a BS in Fashion and Retail Management.
